Sanctuary AI

Sanctuary AI (CAN), founded in 2018, is advancing the field of robotics with its development of Phoenix™, a general-purpose humanoid robot designed to perform a wide range of tasks across various industries. Powered by Carbon™, its proprietary AI control system, Phoenix mimics human movement and cognitive processes, enabling it to learn and interact with the world in ways similar to humans.

Sanctuary AI’s mission is to create and deploy millions of industrial-grade humanoid robots to address labour shortages and enhance productivity across sectors such as automotive, manufacturing, and logistics. Its focus on dexterity, tactile feedback, and fine manipulation positions Phoenix as a versatile solution for tasks that are dull, dirty, dear, or dangerous for humans.

In 2023, Sanctuary AI’s sixth-generation general-purpose robot, Phoenix, was recognised as one of TIME magazine’s Best Inventions of the year.

Sanctuary AI has attracted a diverse group of investors from various industries, including Magna, Verizon Ventures, SE Health, BDC Capital, Evok Innovations, and others. The Government of Canada has also shown strong support for Sanctuary AI, providing contributions through the Canadian Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF).
